i'm looking into another job in korea, and i was hoping some people here could give me advice on areas. i wanted to be as close to seoul as possible, but not in the city (my recruiter doesn't hire for SMOE). i'm not sure where seoul exactly starts though... which subway stop on the west side of the city would be the closest to seoul, but still with GEPIK?
if you know of any other areas close to seoul (less than an hr) that are nice to live in, please mention those too! thanks |

| What particular parts of Seoul do you want to be close to? It can take more than an hour to travel between some places within Seoul ... so knowing the things that you want to be close to will probably make it easier to give you some idea on places in Gyeonggi close to them. I was actually about 1/2 hour from the Subway last year by bus, and around an hour from Jamsil by bus and I know that this distances like this are not uncommon for many cities in Gyeonggi do ... But they are still some distance from many of the common places people want access to in Seoul ... It really does come down to what is important to you ... |

| You can get from Bundang to Itaewon in about 35-40 minutes if you take the express bus from Seohyun station and then the 110 bus at Dangook University. |

...or if you don't mind walking for 10 minutes from where you get off the 9001 express bus at the pedestrian overpass at Danguk U. Good to get a little exercise every now and then. |

I visited bucheon last week. Seemed pretty nice.
I would try to get somewhere a little less crowded as long as I wasn't going to be actually in Seoul, but to each his or her own. |

| I live and work in Bucheon. It takes me 45 mins to get to Seoul by train. I'd advise you go for Bucheon or Bundang, which is also near Seoul. |

actually, i just found out that my recruiter hires for SMOE this year, so i'll be applying for that, but SMOE has already started hiring for August.
fromtheuk, Bucheon sounds alright, i'm looking into that in case SMOE is full and/or i hear more rumors about their crappy housing |

I go to Itaewon once a week, apart from that I never go to Seoul.
So, I suppose it depends on how often you want to go there.
I've heard the bills are higher in Seoul. I like living in Bucheon.
My housing is pretty good, no real problems, and I live in a fairly quiet area.
If GEPIK offered 21 days vacation, it would be 'ideal'.
Try www.korvia.com
They are reliable, or just apply directly through GEPIK instead. |

I agree with the guy above. I wanted to be close to Seoul too, but I didn't want to go through SMOE because they don't give you much of a choice where they'll put you. You can request a location, but you can't turn down whatever they decide to give you.
I applied to Korvia last weekend. I wanted to start in June or July and be close to Seoul. They got me a job in Bundang in just a couple days and offered me another one in Gunpo city. Both are really close to Seoul.
They're pretty professional.
Good Luck. |

Korvia charges fees. Apply directly to GEPIK.

I don't think they do. They're not charging me anything. |
