WorknPlay or Korea Connections?
If you were applying through SMOE right now for the fall, does anyone have a preference? I've heard decent things about both places, and with SMOE it seems that the recruiter isn't that big of an issue, I realize. It sounds like WorknPlay might be bigger, Korea Connections being smaller... don't know if that really matters at all either. But if you were to apply right now for the fall, which would you prefer and maybe why if you have a moment? |

I had a bad experience with KoreanConnections.
If I were to apply again I would not give them my business.
I guess that leaves WorkNplay. |

Korea Connections. Multiple times their Canada rep. Jamie assured me of "more info. soon," but too many times she failed to maintain decent communication with me. A couple of days to get some answers I understand, but weeks?? No thanks....
Try another recruiter... |

WorknPlay - 4
Korea Connections - 1
What about Footprints? I'm applying to SMOE. They better than WorknPlay?
Thanks for the responses. Very helpful. |

eac02...
May I ask you an unrelated question if you applied to SMOE? Did you have previous experience, an MA, TEFL, etc.? Or did you apply with on a BA and get accepted? Common question, I know. But I am just curious if they are accepting more people without extra credentials for the fall. Take care. |

I have a BA in english and TEFL cert. I have some teaching experience but nothing full- time, long term, or significant enough to make a difference.
Regardless, it is always worth trying. |

I have a BA in English as well from a university. I also think that I interview well over the phone. I heard that's a big part of their process, judging the person's voice, essentially, and ability to project, use emotion, etc. I do not have a TEFL certificate that is over 100 hrs., however I have just begun to volunteer as a one-on-one ESL teacher locally. I get my first student in the next couple of weeks and plan to work with him/her at least twice a week. I would hope that this would be a good start. I'd really like SMOE, like a lot of applicants. I heard that they are hiring far more teachers for FALL 2008 than they ever have. We'll see what happens. Any extra tips or insight you might have would be fully appreciated, but I know that I am not necessarily going to be their first tier choice. Just have to attempt. Thanks for your replies. |
