Great machine.
If you want a really nice DVD player to go with it, I'd recommend the Oppo 980H. I just got one, and was planning to sell it, but discovered my mistake in setting it up wrong, so I'm going to keep it.
www.oppokorea.com
The upconverted picture from the Oppo players beat out even the most expensive (upwards of $1000) players. I'm really impressed. Reviews have given their newest player a near perfect rating. The 980H like mine will any other player near its pricepoint that you'll find anywhere -- and beats out most any player below $800, other than the more expensive Oppos, which some say are all very close in output anyway.
They do nice audio, too. |

Spliff, I'm your wallet and I'm here to convince you otherwise. What are you buying this midget/monstrosity for anyway?
If you're buying this for a living room TV: It's 10" too damn small.
If you're buying this for a PC monitor: It's 10" (or 8") too damn big. Esp. for gaming, you'd have to put a distance between your head and the monitor that exceeds the depth of any desk I've ever seen.
Either way you go, I think it's a bad purchase. And didn't you get a Zeus 5000 (was it 22- or 24-inch?) not very long ago for your main PC monitor? Isn't this too much too soon? Wait a few more years, but the 32" screen size will still be wrong then and always, IMO. |

Can't you just watch your porn on a slightly smaller tv like this:
with headphones like this to hear the grunts:
Combined price 300 dollars.
That'll leave you more money for this:

Hear, hear.
32'' inch is too small for living room and too big for desktop monitor. Think on, spliff.
IMO, 24'' is perfect for desktop.
Living room? Depends on how far your sofa is from your TV. But 32'' ain't gonna cut it. |

Spliff went shopping at the weekend.
He drank a beer or two and the 32in TV turned into a 40in Full HD TV.
He still needs an HDMI to DVI cable and an HDMI cable so help the fella our. |

HDMI cables are HDMI cables if they're under 4 or 5 meters.
I've had 4 of them, ranging in price from 10,000 to 25,000 won. The most expensive ones had "anti-interference filters" on either end, and every single one of them performed identically.
In other words, unless you have a really long cable run (over 4 meters) then go cheap. I have read that people have had problems passing the signal if it's over 7 meters long. |

So you're saying that any ole 10,000krw HDMI cable will doo 1080p no problem? If so that's cool w/ me. The hdmi-dvi one I need around 2m. The HDMI-HDMI need 3m.

No.
(btw, it's "out", not "our")
Okay.
The HDMI standard provides for two types of HDMI cable: Standard and High Speed. HDMI Standard cables are good for 1080i, which is the HD we get from some digital TV broadcasting. Guess what? You don't need anything else, and you especially don't need anything touted as "High Speed" HDMI cable, regardless of what the salesperson tells you. Not that that's what Spliff was asking about -- just saying.
As in the audio world, so it goes in the video world: the "monster cable" pitch -- indeed the entire "monster cable" industry -- is predicated on a GD mountain of BS, flimflammery, sparkle, half-truths and snake oil. Just google "hdmi cable scam" and see. engadget's had a funny post on it.
Okay, Spliff got a 40-inch "TV", did he? (what's up with him and these off-beat screen sizes?) So we can rule out desktop use, this is a "dog & kids in the living room on Saturday morning" honest to goodness TV, right? |

he has a wireless keyboard and mouse and posts on Dave's sitting 2m away from the screen. He has Danawa on one half of the screen and Dave's buy and sell on the other. |
