I would tell them, politely, that these tests are for the benefit of the students in their school, and not for your benefit, and therefore you believe it should be paid for by them.

Some schools will pay...some won't.

Much like the visa application fees.....and ARC application fees....some schools pay....some won't.

Is 53,000 won more important to you than another year with your school?? Another year of salary....pension, if you receive it...and another severance payment?

Weigh the pros and cons of putting up too big a fight on this one.

It is negotiable....

You can insist that the fees associated with your extension must be paid for by the school or you will NOT renew your contract.

Let them decide. You have lots of options... and a strong position to negotiate from...

ASk for what you want.... let them counter.

If you like what they offer ... stay.
If you don't, say no thanks and find a new job.
17,000 teachers and 30,000 jobs.... getting a new job here is like finding kimchi in a restaurant.

50 bucks for a job that you seem to enjoy....enough to want to extend your stay with your current employer.

Going through the hoops of finding another job...documentation issues...because it sounds like you were hired before the new visa regs.

50 bucks. Weigh the pros and cons.

Again....some schools pay....some don't. Visa application fees and ARC application fees are very similar in this regard. Some do....some don't.

50 bucks for your peace of mind...staying in a situation you know....and seem to be comfortable enough with to want to stay.

Creating an issue....finding another job...and rolling the dice with an employer you're unfamiliar with.

Pick your battles missionshk.
