Hey folks

Just returned from a great weekend on Dokjeokdo. So many waygooks and good times.

I thought I would start this topic as a warning to those thinking of traveling there in the future.

BRING your OWN food! This was my third time there and although lugging all my food half way across seoul was tough at the time, I have to say I was so happy that I did.

Don't get me wrong there are options to eat on the island but they are very limited and well not so tasty.

Save your tummy the hassle and pack a couple of meals...you will be much happier (and you won't have to mooch mine Twisted Evil )

Thanks to all who were there this weekend it was a blast!

I was there this weekend. I ate samgyapsal almost the entire time. I was very surprised there wasn't a seafood restaurant.

My biggest complaint would be the attitudes of some of the people after getting drunk. Most were great, but there were some inconsiderate assholes and bitches there after midnight on Saturday.

The adjumma across the street from the beach made some pretty good kimchi jjigae without the insane island mark-up. One super was charging 12'000원 for a six pack of cans of hite! A couple years back they used to only double the price.

I woke up just in time Monday morning to watch some white and green patterned tent blow into the ocean.

tends to be the way after too much sun and hite.

I didn't realize the island had gotten so popular. It was dead all the other times I went.

I stayed twice at Eun Hwa Motel. Its right across from the sky restaurant. It has room with a bed and hot water with a nice ajuma who runs it. It also has a kitchen (but the pans etc r a bit old but usable). Its 50/night. It also has a enough room for friends to stay in the floor. It is a little expensive I guess but I like my bed!

Don't stay at the beach love motel. its run by these two old ppl and they were extremely rude to my friends (korean n waygook)....

"They should put 'em all on an island."

Seems to be working.

Lots of people camped on the beach.

Many people stayed in the minbak just to the right of the Beach Love Motel. I think a floor without beds was $10 a night for the room.

We tried to get the ferry to "party island", but got to the ferry at 3:10pm Sad That really sucked.

So instead, we hoofed it over to Silmido and camped there. It was a really relaxing time! Beautiful scenery as well. Met some cool people. (To the very friendly Parisiens that were playing beach soccer- if you're reading this- sorry I didn't join you, I was suffering from bronchitis and had to go lie down and take a nap.

BTW, an easy way to go to Silmido is to get an airport limousine bus out to Incheon Int. Airport. Then catch a small bus (220 or 222 maybe??) take that to the Mui-do ferry. Cross over and get a bus to Silmido. Very easily done. Very nice camping facilities.
