I got mine for $10 at the State Office.... it took all of not even 5 minutes, but I did have to drive over an hour to get to the place....
If you look online at the state offices, they should tell you what you need and what the process is.... hope that helps |

I paid $20 for the apostille plus $6 for the stamp, so $26 total.
Kind of a ripoff if you ask me. |

Relative to what we have do pay in Australia $26 would be a great price rather than a ripoff. The cost to me recently to get the CRC Apostiled was $80 dollars and that is the normal fixed cost to do it. There are no cheaper options available. |

That's what private companies generally charge to obtain the records for you and walk them through the apostille process. If you're overseas, need apostilled documents, and don't have anyone back home to do it for you, this may be the only option.
It is NOT the only option for teachers in Korea, however, as Immigration allows us to authenticate documents at our home countries' embassies with a sworn affidavit/declaration. See the sticky thread in the Job-related Forum "GUIDE: AUTHENTICATING A BACKGROUND CHECK FROM WITHIN KOREA" for info on this way.
Don't waste hundreds of dollars on one of those services when you can get what you need by making a trip to the embassy in Seoul!

| My school was just informed that the Apostille isn't needed anymore - if you're renewing your visa. |

If you're renewing your visa AND you've already provided a background check to Immigration (i.e., you got your visa after 12/15/07), you don't need a background check or apostille.
If you're renewing and you haven't previously provided a background check to Immigration, you must provide one. It must be authenticated, either by an apostille or by an affidavit/declaration notarized at your home country's embassy in Korea.
All the details you need are in the sticky thread on the Job-Related forum.
