I feel like I have heard that the tarriff on electronics is 60%. Thats an insane amount. I want to buy a bunch of things on ebay. One of the items is 135$ US.
Is it possible to avoid tarriff charges?
For example, if the item is a low enough cost, or if the source of the item is another country (canada, austrailia, somewhere in europe)? |

If you get the seller to write gift on the package it should pass. I had my family send a nintendo wii and no tariff. It was labeled birthday gift |

I've heard was SKConqueror suggests works. I ordered a watch from Amazon recently, but rather than have it shipped directly to me and pay a 20 percent duty, I had it mailed to my parents, who will send it to me as a "gift".
I'd offer to let you know if it works, but it will be a few weeks and therefore probably too late. |

It's insane only if you believe it. I've never paid more than 20%. For all my laptops, it was even 10%. On top of that, I've never paid duty on anything less than $200.
Just a note: if you do get hit with duty, they will add the cost of the shipping to the cost of the item and calculate the duty on the total.

Such a small package will get through with such a strategy, but marking a computer or digital camera or the like won't. |
