I'm struggling trying to figure out where I want to work next in Korea. The problem is that some of the hagwon names sound funny. I'm afraid of what an employer would say when I applied for a job when move back to the United States.

Worked at Ding Ding Dang in Daegu--it sucked. Name's funny too. Don't do it, OP!

I voted for Maple Bear. Sounds extremely goofy (not that Ding Ding Dang doesn't).

Wait a minute, is there really a "New Foundland School of English"?

Definitely Ding Ding Dang. Fortunately you can just make up whatever you want on your resume when it comes to hagwon when you're home because nobody's going to verify, and it's not like anybody on the Korean end actually has the interest, ability, or memory to participate in a reference check.

The only evidence that I ever worked at Avalon is my expired visa in my passport.

Damn OP, I certainly hope that ALL of these schools you have listed on the poll are not part of YOUR own total work experience. Getting dragged through Dante's 9 layers of Hell and back come to mind when I see many of these infamous names.

At least with Ding Ding Dang you could at least pass it off as a Korean word and unless the boss was Korea, nobody would ever know otherwise. You could just tell them it meant "Prestige Academy" or something in Korean.

Or maybe you would just get an interview because it's funny you would even work at a place called Ding Ding Dang.

I've seen schools called things like Great Genius English and CIA hagwon. There are worse things than Ding Ding Dang.
