the homeroom teacher/co teacher starts by bludgeoning the hell out of the students. This is High School grade 2. I hate my job. All I get is a class full of sullen angry kids. Please please please beat the kids AFTER class and not before.

Just walk out. If they have a problem, just tell them that you cannot work in an environment of violence.

Just tell your co-teacher or the homeroom teacher how you would like your class managed. They may not understand your reasoning, but most likely they will respect your wishes and do as you ask.

There's nothing like starting out teaching a group of kids who've just been punished, is there? I can remember one lesson last year in first block when a group of 10 or so grade 1 HS students came trudging in after they had all been lined up in the corridor and whacked across the head. I don't know how much that will help them come to school on time in the future but it sure as hell doesn't put them in much of a mood for learning.

Do what I learned years back and has made my life so much more stress free ever since.

Deliver the class in a polite manner, regardless of what the S's are doing, act happy and then leave at end of class.

Ignore everything else. Do something fun during breaks, enjoy lunch, go home.

You have three choices;

One > Quit and find another job
Two > Talk to her about treating the students with respect
Three > Record her beating the students so people can see it on the internet.
