|

they seem to be very popular in my city, especially among middle school and high school age girls.
99% of the time, NOT very appealing (the slightly elongated female version of the Prince Valiant).
interesting.
and btw I walked out of the PC bang very late on Sun night with a ciggie headache and wanted to smell the fresh crisp night air.
and was greeted with what seemed to be an inordinate amount of sulphur in the air.. the air was so "rancid", I could almost "smell it". Very weird. (the timing especially)
First time I've "felt"/been affected by the air pollution. |

This phenomenon is a local attraction called "sparkling airTM"
... its the "'french champagne" of air, according to Vsitkorea tourist adverts.
Its very beneficial to the heath when breathed in deeply.
Its a delicious mix of industrial pollution,Chinese top soil and a top note of excrement.
Its deadly....30,000 deaths p.a. are attributed to it,it fails most health guidelines, contains a suspension of industrial cyanide, amongst other ingredients
The USFK occupying army in Seoul monitors korean air quality at this site, and issues health warnings if it gets severe.

| The haircuts might be due to that annoying singer who is the so-called "Paris Hilton" of Korea. She was in some sexy girl group, and has orangish hair. She's on tv all the time these days, but is not sexy, tries waaaay too hard to try to be P.H., and is basically very annoying. So of course, K-girls are copying her. Bravo! |

| I like the circumcised *beep* hair cuts that Korean Kids used to sport back in the 70's and 80's. I grew up with a couple of Korean kids in the States when I was younger. Everyone at school called them goombas from Super Mario Brothers but I thought they resembled circumcised penises. |

| Ahh, the dreaded 버섯 머리. They are spreading like wildfire. Only a couple cool kids had them last year, now they are everywhere. |

agreed. the haircut is very annoying, the girls who sport it could look a lot better with a different style. i prefer to call it the "lego hair", it looks like a the hair pieces for lego toys that you could pop right off.
when i went to visit the states, i stopped by the lego store to see if they sold just the hair pieces (they have every color lego you could possibly think of, even steering wheels). but sadly they dont sell the hair pieces separately. i was going to hand them out the random people on the street who had the haircut. |

| I've seen them all over too, and thought about next year, when all the kids who bucked the trend will be glad. A blunt cut can be layered or textured, but a fringe/bangs is damned hard to get rid of. |

| I like that haircut. It's sort of late 80's Cosby show look that goes well with the Reeboks with the straps. Hipsters in the US were sporting it a few months ago. |

| One guy at my uni is wearing his hair in the Prince Valiant do and I hope it doesn't spread in the 40 days or so that remain of this semester. |

| At least the mushroom-head do's of last year are less common. I have to agree with whoever said that they look like extras in a Monty Python mediaeval movie. |

| i detest that haircut. it's exacerbated by the fact that the girls that have them usually think they're ultra cool. i think it's so popular here because of the "small face" phenomenon. that haircut covers a good proportion of the face, giving the illusion that they got a small face. i wish they'd try the cousin it haircut instead, or at least drink that tea that somehow magically shrinks ur face... |

That's very possible. I couldn't believe it when I found out, but the first years at my high school photoshop their fucking school photos. I wouldn't have even noticed (as I couldn't imagine a world where shit like that happened), but one of them made it super obvious, which got the discussion going. Turns out half the class shaves a little off their face in PS so their heads look smaller in the school photos. Some of these girls don't even have big heads! |

Take a look at the faculty in the yearbook, you won't be able to recognize any of them. Too much airbrushing. Maybe if they added a dragon or leopard to their shirt it would be ok, but just doing the face and hair is no fun. |
