I'll be traveling around Thailand for a month in July, and I'm currently looking at backpacks on Gmarket. I won't be taking a massive amount of stuff with me, but I'm also not one of those people that can survive for a month with a skirt and 3 t-shirts. Any idea what size backpack I need? I'll probably be buying clothes there in Thailand...

I've seen 35L, 45L and 65L backpacks on Gmarket.

Will you be putting your dredlocks on it or just letting them hang over the back? Do you have many beads?

I would get a 65l but be strict and only half fill it when you set off. 45l would be big enough to take what you need, anything smaller and you would struggle. Can you get one that collapses (Ie you can compress the bottom) so that it isn't as big when not full?

I just brought a carry on to Thailand and ended up buying luggage before I went home because I shopped a lot there.

I'm a guy, so there's certain things I can leave out compared to you like makeup or some hygiene products (although you can pack thongs and I pack boxers) but I brought like 5 tank tops, a couple pairs of shorts, and wore my nicer clothes through the airport. That was all I really needed.

It depends what you'll be doing. If you're going to nice restaurants you will need more clothes. If you're spending time in the sun, you don't need anything. Wear your nice shoes through the airport and pack your flip flops in your bag. As a girl, you will find plenty of cute shoes for cheap in Thailand so don't worry about packing many--most girls over-pack shoes.

Nothing smaller than 60 Liters.

A lot of people do just go with a cheap carry on and then buy a backpack and all their clothing once they're there.

Spliff--you're a genius buddy.
