I can't seem to find any information on Daves about DI (AKA: Direct English). Can somebody point me in the right direction?
Reason I ask is because I'm looking for some contingent job opportunities in the Seoul area. I'm in the last month of my contract here in a Gyeongi-do public high school . It's been a good experience and I'd like to resign but they haven't said anything at all to me other than my supervisor mentioning that all the kids like me. Plus I heard through the grapevine that my position is funded in the new budget.
But it just miffs me that they're waiting this long, til the last friggin' minute, to give me a new contract to sign. I don't like the idea of being in a position where I could be handed a contract at the last minute that's got something in it I don't like (not that I think that's likely).
So, even though it's kinda late, I'm starting to think about other opps and I remember seeing ad an (on "Serious Teachers") about Direct English looking for teachers for their adult one-on-one classes in Seoul. I remember last year that I'd seen some references to them here on Daves but I can't seem to find anything now.
I'd be very appreciate of any info or comments on DI. I'm interested in them especially because I do have a masters in business, previous Far East experience, I've got good business and sales experience and I think I could relate well to adult Korean.
Anybody got some guidance for me for that info?

When it comes to DE, not only is it likely, it's an almost certainty. They look for people they can easily screw over and won't complain about it. |

You would prefer to work with Wall Street Institute. They offer adult teaching without the split shifts (with the likes of YBM, DE, EC, etc). The training and pay is good and there are actually Korean staff who value the native teachers.
Have a look at their website (www.wsikorea.com) and please note you could get a PT evening position and still work full time with a public school added to your ARC which is legal.
Direct English has a terrible reputation and would highly discourage from applying with them. WSI have just opened their 10th Centre and are keen to recruit experienced staff. |
