|
|
My E2 visa expired 6 months ago and I've been living outside of Korea ever since. I'd like to take up a job in a different school in Korea and according to this facebook page people renewing their E2 visas in Dublin do not have to submit a criminal background check.
Am I renewing my visa or do I need to apply for a new one? AFAIK, a visa is tied to an employer, so I need to get a new visa and that means applying for a criminal background check. |

You are not renewing your visa.
Renewal of your visa (technically, extending your period of stay/sojourn) is only done from within Korea, and only prior to the expiration of your original period of stay/sojourn.
You are correct in thinking that you will need to apply for a NEW visa, and you will need to submit a properly authenticated criminal background check during the visa issuance application process.

and just an add-on FYI - the exemption from CRCs for renewals ended March 15 (2008).
Now - ALL RENEWALS and ALL new visas require the CRC and medical background checks (as well as a medical exam AFTER your arrival in Korea and BEFORE you can get your ARC). |
