...are things in their right place?
It is, obviously, hovering at about 1040 to the dollar. Someone in Portland asked me tonight how the economy was, and I really couldn't tell her. Like, I explained that it's slightly tanking right now, but that's only compared to the fact that it's been a bubble for the past 2 years. At the same time, really, it's only underperforming by like .04$, and not too much to cry about.
About a half a year ago, I had an argument with someone as to whether or not to invest in Korean business. I was against...my reason being that it felt to me like Korea was kind of *riding a wave* more than truly succeeding. His argument was that they had their fingers in a lot of base-manufacturing pies (chips, technology, clothes, etc). I feel right now like we were both kind of right, i.e., Korea was riding a wave, but maybe they diversified just enough to stay afloat. |

| It's hard to say whether to blame it on the stagnation of the Korean currency or the strength of whatever you're trading. I used to be able to get more than a dollar for every thousand won I sent him (just last year) and now it's less. No idea what to do, except make sure my debts back home are paid off, since my salary is now worth less in Canada. |
