Teacher's Day is tomorrow and I just found out my public school MIGHT close for the afternoon. It's less than 24 hours away and they still haven't made up their minds. I'll prep. for the classes anyway; because if I don't... |

| I think all public schools don't have classes. It's a day off for the kiddos, but I was told by my co-teacher that it is a work/prep day for the teachers. Which usually means coming in at 10, BSing with the other teachers until lunchtime, then volleyball in the afternoon. |

| The local supervisor pub school feels strongly that on Teacher's Day teachers should teach students as usual. Because it's not a proper red day holiday (says my K co-teacher) and there will be no-one to take care of the kids at home while the parents are at work. |

| We have two classes in the morning, then 2 periods of official picture taking. Then half day off. The school isn't serving lunch, so I think the PTA is throwing a teachers room lunch. |

| Yeah, my CT has just mentioned soemthing about teachers day. He said my classes are cancelled (Bummer. I only have 2 on Thursdays), but didn't say anything about taking the day off. Our schools new dormitory block is opening tomorrow so no doubt the FT monkey (me) will have to stand around smiling for the camera all afternoon. |

The local elementary school will be closed and my hagwon will be open but I've just been informed I'll be getting the day off, the first time in six years of hagwoning (including two previous at this very same hagwon) that I'll be having it off.
I suspect the director's wife just wants to horde all the teachers' gifts. |

Last year I was told that teachers day was a day off in exchange for not recieving presents and gifts from parents. This year we have to work half a day and still not recieve gifts or presents.
I think the teachers are getting screwed here.
I sometimes think that Koran teachers shouldn't expect us to work longer hrs and have less holidays than them incase Principals get used to having foriegn teachers get less holidays and work more hrs and think why don't the korean teachers work the same hrs and get less holidays?". |

Have to go in to work, but 3 of 4 classes are canceled for Teachers' Day activities. I also have my after-school class tomorrow so it doesn't cut into my OT. |
