| Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase a silk robe anywhere? I live near the Anyang area, but can travel into Seoul if necessary. If you know of a place, specific directions would be great as I'm not too good with finding new places. Also, any idea how much something like this might cost? Thanks in advance for any help! |

The silk robe guy in Itaewon!
He's outside every day near the McDonald's. They're really nice quality. I've brought home a bunch as gifts and they're always well-received.
I think he normally charges 15,000 won for one, but he's flexible. I got 3 for 35,000 won once. |

If you go past that guy, towards McDonalds, on the left you will see an alley where they are selling souveniers. Go down the alley and you will see long and short silk kimonos hanging outside. The lady sells really good quality ones there and you can also have them embroidered. If you only buy one, she will probably charge 27,000 won. She will give discounts if you buy more. She has a huge selection.
If you look in most stores, you can find different styles all along the Itaewon strip. Be prepared to look in out of the way places, like the underground malls. Don't let them charge you 40,000 won, like they try to quote you. Just tell them the lady down the road sells them for 25,000 won and be ready to walk out. It will usually get you your price. |
