Hi,
Could somebody help me with a fare reimbursement problem? I would like to have a holiday in Korea and China before gong home at end of contract in August.
The Korean government will pay my return airfare DIRECTLY to Australia, without stopovers, but not to or via China, (they say they must see a direct flight air ticket receipt before reimbursement). I dont know what I am going to do about this since I dont want to lose this money (about $US800!)
I am with EPIK at public middle school on E2 contract. They seem to stick to the contract exactly, so no cash equivalent or less deals.
Does anyone now how to get around this problem?
I would like the ticket to be dated Mid October. Can I change my E2 visa to a tourist visa for two months at end of august and make a quick cheap trip to China and back (on Chinese visa, of course) and use the ticket then?
Has anybody done this successfully? Is there another way?
Any suggestions welcomed.
Thanks

One possible option especially to Australia is to show them that a direct flight is not usually the cheapest way to fly back to Australia... Get a Korean Airlines or Asiana airlines ticket cost to Australia (The one I just had to fly here on Asiana paid by employer not me was for $3000 ...) I don't think it would be too hard to show them that it is much cheaper to them if they allow you to fly via China rather than forcing you to fly direct. The direct flights from Korea to Australia either way are very expensive relative to the stops which stop and change planes anywhere along the way (including China) ... It would be worth a try when it really is saving them money ... They might just buy it ...
