Has anyone else out there worked for the Brainy English chain?
I work for them now.
I'd like to see how your impression compares with mine. |

I work for Brainy. SO far my experience has been good. I think my boss is ok. NOt great, but fairly good.
I've been wondering how things are at other brainy schools.
Where i am i teach conversation classes, and i don't use any of the Brainy materials. My boss wants me to teach English Time and Side BY Side.
HOw are things at your hagwon. |

I have worked in two of the Brainy institutes..both of them were the worst hagwons I have ever set foot in..the very name 'brainy' should say it all..one of the schools had 20 tiny tables in the classroom..they were on wheels! Needless to say that was a recipe for disaster. There was graffiti all over the desks and walls, the other Korean teachers could speak only the most basic english and I was told not to discipline the kids (ie. can not kick them out of the classsroom etc..).
The actual Brainy textbooks are garbage and one of the 'schools did not have a photocopier or an english korean dictionary. Basically in my experience the Brainy academy sums up everything that is wrong with hagwon culture in Korea...
Both of my experiences were privates so I could leave (which I did). Maybe the places who hire full time teachers are more professional.. |
