I'm a bit under the weather. Nothing that handicaps me, but annoying nonetheless. I think it has to do with the yellow dust, but I'm not quite sure.

Basically, my lungs are full of crap and I have a nasty cough which is my body's way of trying to expel said crap. Anyone else showing any symptoms like this?

The yellow dust hasn't been above 200 ppm in any part of the country for weeks.

But I'm also having cold symptoms.

Isn't the healthy level for constant exposure about 50ppm? I think that red line has been put in a pretty bloody arbitrary place considering how many people are sick.

You may have noticed lots of yellow stuff on the ground, cars, etc... It's pollen season, maybe that's what's bothering you.

Some people (and I'm one of them) seem to have real difficulty with "colds" when they come to Korea. What would have been a 5 day normal cold turns into a 5 or 6 week nightmare...at least that's been my experience.

awww, you poor things in Korea having to deal with pollen counts below 200!
It was 330 here in Atlanta today and in the 3000's (yes, that's 3 zeros) last month. It rained a little on my car and the pollen washed down a little... it looked like someone pissed all over it.
But yea.. i felt the same as you back then... oh, it would be so nice to breathe again. Take some antihistamines. Feel better.

Hello, silentwhispers.

Pollen and yellow dust are quite different.

There are many threads related to yellow dust on this board. But here, I'll do it for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_dust

We were lucky this year. There was hardly a bad day in Seoul. But last year I remember going outside and the entire sky was yellow. Quite different from pollen.

Ah yea, I remember that from my visit a couple years ago. One of the first thing I asked my ex's family was why the sky was yellow. Needless to say, it apparently offended them. *shrug*

Not sick, but twice last week I woke up to find everything in my apartment covered with "yellow dust" (a.k.a. "pollen")!

Won't be sleeping with the windows open anymore. Exclamation

I've not been 100% for 3 weeks. Was quite sick 2 weeks ago. Had headaches, cough, shit in my chest and nose. Don't think the dust is anything like as bad as when I was in Beijing though...

I'd be interested to know whether they symptoms described and climatic or infectious. I've had them for a few days too - mucusy cought, sweaty and feverish, runny nose etc.

There is loads of green/yellow dust near us this last week, but it's from the top of the pine trees. Not WhangSa (황사) from China.
