So I've been in Vietnam now for 2 days and I must say I am terribly pissed off. After returning to my hotel from walking the streets of Hanoi all day, I find that some *beep* has slashed my bag a stolen my camera. Normally I wouldn't be too pissed off, but this is the second time travelling asia that someone has stolen my camera.
I was willing to submurse myself into the culture and spend loads of money here buying clothes and crap to send home but now I just want to get the hell out of asia. I know this could happen anywhere in the world, but after living in asia for nearly 2 years now I have experienced rudness like never before.
So guys just be careful when walking and be mindfull of your belongings, and hopefully u will have better luck then me. |

Sorry to hear it, man. In all of my travels I've never had anything stolen from me. I am ALWAYS afraid of my camera getting stolen though. When I went to Vietnam, I brought my really crappy digi P&S instead of my DSLR and could've kicked myself when I saw all the Koreans walking about with their DSLRs.
Anyhow--really sorry to hear it, dude. |

a couple of minutes of work liberating your conspicuous consumption feeds his children and grandparents for a year
that's why it's a relatively rare practice in Japan and South Korea |

Where was the first place you had your camera stolen? |

There's a good reason why most hotels have safety deposite boxes. Consider yourself lucky they didn't get your travellers checks or passport
If something disappears from you safety deposite box the hotel is liable.
I've used Safety deposite boxes for over ten years now and never had a problem. Then again I don't rent flea infested backpacker hotels too.
I once travelled with a friend. There was no elevator so we had to climb 6 flights of stairs. On every floor was a notice advising us to use the safety deposite box. I used mine. He ended up on the phone to American Express. I had to lend him money. |

Great idea, Fishead. Bring a camera to a foreign country to lock it up! |
