Hey all..
Does anybody here know what the night life in the Konkuk University Area is like during weekends?

It is a place I haven't been to for a long time now but I'm thinking about going there with some friends this weekend...probably Friday!!

From what I remember (about 2 years ago) the area was really lively and a good alternative to more notorious areas..There are lots of bars etc there. I wonder if its the same as that now!

Anybody know the actual names and locations of good lively bars there....Are there any?? Maybe even with a pool table and some dance space etc.. Instead of just Hof style establishments!!

Would like to have some recommendations before going there instead of just walking the streets aimlessly and then deciding where is a good place to go..

Cheers..

Morphine, downstairs dance club with a DJ. Small but pumpin'.

Place opposite used to be called Beerworld, also dstairs. Has a new name, but it's an ice bar with dancing.

Pool? Nope.

Go to Oxen for beef rib kalbi.

Beer at, um, Red Dog?

Madang, up by Sejong Univ. has nice outdoor beer garden.

There's a good Japanese place close to Kondae Stn. Exit 2, upstairs.

Good (sorta) Italian food at Sorrento close to Starbucks.

Real morphine available at Konkuk Univ. Hospital. For after.

10,000 for unlimited daily drinks? That's sounds too good to be true. Have you checked this place out yet?

Thanks in advance.

Not a bad little area, but only worth it if you live nearby. Wouldn't make the trip across town for it.

A fairly cool bar with friendly owners and darts and cheap drinks is called Mad Ghost. It's on the street that goes north from Kondae station up to Children's Grand Park. It's quite a ways up.. probably about 3/4 of the way to Sejong. It's underground and fairly easy to walk past, but there is a sign outside. Saturdays they have 1,000won beers and tequilas too in their happy hour.

Just before you get to it you also pass a bar called.. umm.. something. i forget. It's another underground bar though.. it's probably the bar right before mad Ghost. It has hookah's in it if you want to smoke one of those.

These bars aren't clubby bars, but maybe worth going to for a few drinks before you go to the club.

There is also a Jazz bar, called Jaz, which is on the same street as Mad Ghost.

On the other side of Kondae station station, just off of "Rodeo" street (a shopping street). There is a pool club. It only has pool tables, no Korean tables, and they seem pretty serious. They don't sell beer there, but as usual you can bring your own..

Great information. I live real close to Konkuk but I never tried hanging out here at night. Maybe I'll check it out this weekend.

My co-teacher, who lives in Eungam, in NW Seoul, goes there every weekend. She says it's her favorite area to hang out in. I'm imagining it's a good place, at least to meet Korean people.

Is she young and attractive? If she is then you should ask her to show me around town.

Can it perhaps be added to the "Best Places To Pick Up Women In Seoul" thread?

I've never been there, but the odds are that in a city of 10 million, there's going to be some human females there, one of which may or may not be my co teacher.

Was disappointed with this place. It's a little bit anti- foreigner! Was there with a group of foreigners. The people at the door said they didnt allow foreigners in there because there are always fights between Koreans and foreigners in there.. After a little explaining that we wouldnt cause any trouble, we were sober etc.. They said ok...

It was a bit early then so we said we'd be back in an hour.. When I went (by myself, friends in nearby bar) back- different people at the door..I just asked to look inside and they allowed me in. I wasnt too impressed with what I seen... Small enough place..music was very loud..drinks looked costly ( all Korean guys in there) so just I walked back out!!

The place next to it in the basement was pretty good though.. It's just a bar but they played good music..Can't remember it's name..
