My wife and I are considering going to Korea to teach english. I have a degree but my wife doesn't (she only has teaching experience, a tesl certificate and a love for children, but that doesn't matter does it?
I was considering taking up a job in one of the schools, however my wife would need something to do while I'm in class. She was considering going to Korea under the H1 visa (travel and work visa for those under 30). What specifically would she be able to do with that visa? Does anyone have any experience with it in Korea?
Could she be a teacher assistant? Can she babysit? Can she help out at the schools? Is there any company that would consider hiring her (even part time) if she doesn't speak a lick of korean? We would even be OK if she could come to my classes and help me out... but would they allow that?
I know that's alot of questions... thank you for any input you guys could give me !! |

She can't legally teach, she can't legally work in the entertainment industry (can't be a dancer, juicy girl, bar singer, etc) and she can't work in the "professions" (pharmacist, doctor, lawyer, teacher, you get the idea). Other than that she can work in any other occupation that she can get hired in.
Baby sitting is fine, as is working in a coffee shop, corner store, etc. There is a (VISA) limit of 20 hours per week of work.
She would probably be able to find work in a kindy hakwon (who can't legally hire an E2) without too much problem as well but it would be very questionable as to whether is was legal or not.
