We've been offered a couple position at this location. I am wondering if anyone on this board is currently at this particular location? Any information on THIS location is appreciated. I've read a lot of not so good reviews of other SLP locations. Thanks a lot.

You will be overworked and underpaid for the privilege of being overworked.

Read the contract VERY carefully.

I think thats the one I was offered a position with first. I was close to taking the position. the FT there gave good reviews but said everyone has a some bad experiences. I ended up not taking it for a better school, after I heard from my recruiter that the principal wanted her to pay for the phone calls they made to me.

I work at a school owned by the same guy that owns Haundae SLP. I have been here over three years and I have enjoyed it very much. Mr. Lee's schools pride themselves on their students' English abilities and the results show. I constantly interview kids from other instittutes and I am amazed at the difference in English ability.

Teaching at an SLP owned by Mr. Lee is as close to "real" teaching as you are going to get in the ESL game. I teach a wide variety of subjects, have tons of resources, am able to mold the class ciriculum to fit my style and the students' abilities.

ttompatz, some people do feel we are overworked. I, however, feel that most places short-change their students. Teaching at SLP is a full-time job, not 15 teaching blocks a week and off to the Hof.

raketbaler, talk to your recruiter about that. Mr. Lee would NEVER require a potential teacher to pay for phone calls. He is an extremely successful man and very influencial at Sogang University. You do not get where he is pulling sleazy crap like that. I don't buy it for one second.

Just my take on the situation and I am sure opinions will vary.

Sorry, typo. Left out the "not" that does sort of change the meaning , huh?

Seriously, Mr. Lee is good, honest man. He goes out of his way for his teachers.

Okay, I made a mistake. I rechecked my old contract and it is actually the SLP in Gwangjin that did that. I've heard they're all different. sorry.

Thanks for double-checking. With all the horror-story hagwons out there, I do not want a good one to get a rep it does not deserve.

Ask the veterans on Dave's why SLP stands for "Slave Labor Program" or "Slave Labor Pay."
