Well, many of us are familiar with the 2MB economical reform for English education of cutting the class size in half and having the KT teach one half in a different room while the NET teaches half alone.

In fact some of us (many?) are already doing it under this new system. However, one NET that I've been talking to about this asked me for documentation (i.e., an article in the Korea Times or some such source) describing this reform. The teacher in question wants to have this to present to co-teachers, VP, etc. to discuss implementing.

It's been so long ago (2 or 3 months now) that I can't find any "official" documentation for this reform. Does anyone know of an article or some official documentation for this?

Thanks.

PS. In fact, I don't recall if I ever read anything about it in the papers. I first heard about it on this forum, I think, as a result of someone telling us that his co-teacher had been to a GPOE meeting at Everland for KTs and it was brought up there.

I still have my fingers crossed for this one but I'm not very hopeful my school will do it. "Hey, huge classes will be okay, you have a coteacher to help." Hahahaha.... I'd rather have the huge class and no coteacher... they generally don't do anything other than make me uncomfortable... a half size class with no coteacher would be divine.

When I recieved the "contract amendment" with this information I recall it saying that it was "optional under the school's discretion". Chances are your friend's school has recieved the details and decided not to implement it, He's SOL i'd say.

Yeah, I just collected a copy of that doc from my supervisor. It is at the principal's discretion. So, there's the diplomatic challenge -- convincing them that it's a good idea and that you (the teacher) can handle a class by yourself.

So, have you tried asking them yet? Naturally, you should always frame it as a reform that benefits the children rather than something that is in your own self-interest. Actually, I think it is both.

The problem comes when your co-teacher is opposed to it. If she is one of those teachers who sits in the corner texting her friends (when she decides to show up) this has just increased her workload drastically.

True. My co-teachers always helped out when the students were working on a handout. It is definitely more work for them having to do a lesson plan and teach half of all the classes I had with them. But they have never complained about it. Not to me anyway.

Do CT do lesson plans?
