Four weeks ago I finally bought a laptop. I plugged it into the modem in my apartment and every time I try to go to a webpage it shows me a Megapass login/password screen.

I've been trying to get my manager to call Megapass and give me the login info but she is beyond useless. I simply cannot get her to pick up the phone. She keeps telling me she'll do it tomorrow. And acts upset whenever I ask.

But I notice Megapass only blocks the http:// protocol. Gmail works because it's https://. Bittorrent and iChat also work.

My question is, are there any programs I can use to fool Megapass into thinking http:// requests are something else? Please help. I have a $1400 laptop that's been sitting on my desk for four weeks because of my manager. I think I may go crazy.

Call megapass yourself - I'm pretty sure they have an English line. If not get a friend with Korean skills to call for you.

failing that change to hanaro.

There may/should be a sticker on your DSL "modem" that has the login and password information. But by default, I believe the ID is "kt#######" (where ####### is your landline phone number) and the password is "megapass."

Hope this works. Good luck!

I had this problem too, and just called them

I think 100 is the english line

However megapass blows!!!

It disconnects on my like 5 times an hour consistently.

I want to break my contract, and have had the service guy come in twice, but it still ends up with bad connection.
