I have been in the same job for 9 months...this months' pay chit shows a deduction for 'fixed medical insurance'. (The actual (usual) meducal insurance payment is also less than previous months).

Anyone had this happen to them?

Am gonna ask about it tomorrow but not sure I will believe the reasons/excuses offered so any help appreciated.

They could very well have you registered for private insurance in addition to Korean National Health Insurance. This is never a bad thing.

Or, it's the "fixed going into our pocket" fund.

Ask them to show you all information regarding this deduction from your salary. If it is private health insurance, tell them you would appreciate it in the future if they ask you beforehand about signing you up for these kinds of things. Also ask them why your deduction for Korean National Health Insurance has decreased. It should stay consistent.

My previous boss would pull this all the time, "I give you now health insurance, sign this paper," but he would always send the paper into my class with his secretary while I was in the middle of teaching, ALWAYS. The paper was all in Korean and his secretary would be all bali bali about it. He would do this so that I wouldn't be able to leave class and walk into his office and question him on it.

They can be so sneaky some times. Show them that you aren't as oblivious as they think you are.
