"minutiae"... goodness... what a weird word... i can't believe i actually spelled it right. are there actually any others that follow that same plural scheme? "~iae"

anyway... my main point... hopefully i've qualified myself as less than an idiot... yet... i still ask this question... Adult classes: Conversation Ideas?

or something like that

i think most of the places i've taught have stripped me of my creativity...now i find myself in an all adults class and i need to teach them to talk to EACH OTHER... omg... OMG... i dunno what to do...

actually i've tried a few things but it's not taking. anyone have any creative ideas. this lesson is primarily concerned with planning a vacation to an English-speaking country. the idea in itself is simple enough and their a few of my learners that really grasp the concept... they... the most vocal (minority of course) want more conversation... but the majority is struggling a bit.

it's a mixed class... say...25% high... 45% middle and the remainder low, but not without skill, maybe just in need of a few weeks of refresher...

soooo.... how do i keep them all satisfied...

[troll note: aside from using appropriate capitalization and punctuation}

Not sure if this is much help but when I am planning my adult classes (just once a week) I get them to put donw topics that they want on a slip of a paper, then they pick on for the following week. I then create a lesson plan using this topic with grammer etc all connected. To get them talking with eachother I write out maybe 10 questions ranging from easy to difficult focusing on the topic and the students ask eachother the questions. They then can choose their own questions to ask eachother if they want.

Go to Sharing under Resources at EFL classroom 2.0. Click Conversation and in that folder are tons of ideas/lessons. Lots of ppts about all kinds of topics. Click and it prompts for discussion with questions. You'll be interested in the travel one.

I also like Tell me more or the book Instant Discussions. Find there....
My gift.
