What's the quickest anyone here has gotten their Canadian criminal check? I know I've asked the question before, but I really need one quick.
I think ttompatz was saying before that I might be able to get someone to go in for me in Canada and then send it to me. I have my fingerprints. Would I have to send them before getting the check? My sister is pretty high up in the RCMP.
Could I have it faxed? Would I have to go to the embassy to have it notorized?
This is an emergency. |

| I applied and received my CRC in under a month fro the Winnipeg police department, now that I have gone through the process my recruiter tells me I need a vulnerable search check done as well. There is a contact number regarding the search, 986-6073 , looks like I will have to go through another application and another wait to get the documents that are required. I am not bit**ing , I can understand why they need the check it is just too bad that I haven't read or heard anything about this on Daves... by the way here is the internet address of the Winnipeg police department http://www.winnipeg.ca/police/BPR/info_request.stm |

You have to have someone at home drop into the local police station to get it. They MAY allow a family member (like parent or your sister) to do this without a notarized letter of authorization or prints. They may want a letter with a signature anyway just to cover their butts.
The CRC has to be physically sent back to you (fax not acceptable) and then YOU make the trip to the Canadian embassy to swear an affidavit attesting to its authenticity.
You submit the CRC AND the afficavit to immigration along with the other usual documents at renewal time. This would be acceptable to immigration for a renewal.
It IS different than a 1st time applicants NEW E2 VISA application (where the Korean embassy in Canada says they need the VSS).

If you're already in Korea, you do NOT need a VSS.
The VSS is NOT required by Korean Immigration. Some (not all) of the Korean consulates in Canada got the bright idea that they would require a VSS, and hence they won't notarize a background check without one.
But once again, if you're already in Korea and you have the Winnipeg check in hand, you're golden. Take it to the embassy, make a statutory declaration that the CRC is authentic, get it notarized, and you're good to go. |
