I am thinking of getting myself an Ipod (finally). I want to get a 160gb Classic. Does anyone know the best place to get one in Yongsan and how much they go for these days? Or does anyone have any other suggestions for another mp3 player that plays videos?
Thanks

Costco prices are cheap and their return policy is also fairly good, I think.

Not to hijack the thread, but does Costco carry Macs? Or just iPods? |

160g is like having a server in your pocket. That's a ton of space. I bought the 80g a few months ago and filled about half of it up. I'm an audiophile too. iPods have the tendency to crap out on you after about 2 years. Look into a smaller HD (80g). You'll be content with it. There is an Apple store in Coex. Prices are comparable to that of the States. |

iPods are not know for their superior sound quality. If you are an audiophile why would buy one? That has been a constant complaint against iPods.
I have an older ipod and I replaced the battery awhile ago and now the click wheel doesn't work well. Ipod work great while they last, but the problem is they don't last all that long. |

That may have been true for the first few models, but the latter ones produce sound of very high quality. In fact I would bet that in a double blind test, using high quality headphones (like my Shure E500) and 192kb/s VBR mp3 files using the latest LAME codec, you could not pick the difference between CD and the iPod.

my click wheel has mysteriously started working again. I hope it continues to do so. I think i remember reading the reviews for the ipod classic on cnet. They all said they wished that apple would improve the sound quality. Iriver, cowan and samsung are all praised for their sound quality. The newest sony players seem to be getting the best reviews for sound. |

I owned an iRiver H320, their first with a color screen. They beat Apple to color and to video playback. The sound was good, until I put good quality sound isolating headphones in there. Then I could hear a distinct background hiss in quiet sections of the music.
That hiss was absent on the iPod I replaced it with (5g).

Okay, so where do we go to get the best deal, and does anyone have any prices? I am also in the market. |
