Seriously, where does she get the nerve to make such claims.

Quote:
Right now, more people have voted for me than have voted for my opponent," said Clinton, a claim muddied by complicated methods to tally voters and Michigan and Florida's questionable status.

As far as I can tell she wasn't so upset about Florida and Michigan until it turned out that she needed them in order for her fuzzy math to work. Absolutely unbelieveable. Does this woman consider it American to count the votes of a primary where she WAS on the ballot but Obama WAS NOT? How American is that for fuck sakes?

She disgusts me more than George Bush, and that is saying a lot. I don't think it has openly been suggested in the press but basically I see her campaign as possessing only one last hope.

I would theorize that she is simply staying in the race in the hopes that the electorate will have an "OH my god, we really are about to elect a blackman for president!" moment. I find it despicable.

Did anyone cringe just a little bit with the "just think of it as job application" comment? Oh my, you wouldn't want to hire a blackman for the job would you? Rolling Eyes

Wake up Hillary. Like it or not America is a democracy. It isn't about who is the "best man for the job" is it? If so, how would you explain Bush getting elected twice? Wink It is a democracy, the president is the one the PEOPLE choose.

The more I hear this particular candidate spout her ideals the more disheartened I become. I really hope, sometime soon, the democratic party takes here backstage and gives here a real good tongue lashing and forces her to withdraw.

I say bring the fornicators wife or Obamma on! It'll be a landslide for McCain (although I wish it was Jeb)!

Hiliary seems to have no lows she won't go.

I could almost see her running as an independent in the Primary Election if she doesn't receive the nomination.

ie, she has balls.
Something Americans expect in a president.
It'd be interesting to see if Obama managed to hold onto his dignity, if suddenly he was the underdog under all the pressure. I'm sure that cool exterior would be ruffled pretty quick.

But Americans seem to want a break from macho politics for a while.

Well, she's literally right. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
You, on the other hand, are using adjectives like "American" to describe behavior.

You are being a bit pedantic aren't you? "American" is often used to indicate the quality of being fair, democratic or just, is it not? Or is your entire problem with the fact that I capitalized it? My humble and sincere apologies to you. Rolling Eyes

By the way, she has more votes because Obama wasn't even on the freaking ballot. I'm not even an Obama suppourter so you can just can your distaste for me based on which candidate I do or do not suppourt.

OP:

She wouldn't characterize it as "nerve" but "the strength of will to continue to press on with the people's agenda" and other such ego-deflecting platitudes.

She views the nomination as her rite of passage as does Bill. Their egos know no bounds.

Look for her to be back in the hunt in four years.

The balls? Snatched them from Bill after the Lewinsky affair went public.

What a generation of powderpuff cynics.

Despicable is when you abuse Executive privilege break into a hotel to steal information from the opposing political party.

Despicable is not when a candidate chooses to keep running so that she can enhance her political image as a fighter. If Obama has all the votes he needs, what is the problem? After all, if Hillary chose to stop running, people would still vote for her.

Its funny how 'Yes, we can' turned so quickly into 'Waaaah! Hillary is destroying everything!'

Everyone has a right to an opinion. No one in the press or anywhere esle would openly admit it but I bet my take on the situation is just as plausible as yours.

Why do you think she is making such a big deal out of Kentucky? Down by so many delegates, and with Obama taking Oregon, just what is she trying to achieve. I'll tell you what. "Hey, hey look at me. I can win the white vote. Screw everything, I can win the white, rural vote! Obama can't!"

Cynic? Perhaps. Correct? Pehaps.

Actually here is the big mistake she made in her speech:

"Neither Senator Obama nor I will have reached that magic number when the voting ends June 3," Clinton said of the number of delegates needed to win the nomination. "So our party will have a tough choice to make."

While Obama is about 63 delegates short of the nomination (last I looked) it is VERY plausible that he WILL have the nomination on June 3rd.

What she is counting on is the FULL seating of Florida and Michigan without any penalty. Clearly this isn't going to happen. Anyone arguing for that is bordering on lunacy.

Actually there are about five scenarios for MI and FL, the outcome of which will most likely NOT be either of the two extremes (not seating them or full seating without penalty).

You should read this twice, Kuros. It is galling to many Americans, including some who aren't even Obama backers, that Hillary would try to pull this "Slick Willy" maneuver to "seat" the voters in these states. You can bet your azz that were the roles reversed she would cry foul too.

I call it dirty pool.

As for clinging on to the nomination process for dear life, well, that's her choice but as each week passes she begins to look more like a sore loser. Al Gore anyone?

If Florida is counted, then Obama will have more delegates. But Michigan won't be counted.

Again, I don't see any attack on Obama or any offensive statement. All I see are a bunch of Obambites getting the vapors.

Considering her age and how she's clinging onto the dim prospect of the nomination like a corpse clutching the family heirloom, I'd say she's the one that needs the vapors.

I'm not even in Obama's camp (yet), so I'm hardly partisan.

I do, however, think it's typical of liberals to want to change the rules in the middle of the game. Sort of like typical that they always prefer spending other people's money before their own.

Intrade is ready when you are. Since McCain will likely be a 2:1 dog by September, your prognosticating skills should enable you to make some serious money.

The offense is not to Obama but to the listeners' intelligence. Clinton is not leading in that ridiculous, cooked-up figment known as "the popular vote" unless one:

1. Counts Michigan, a state where Obama was not on the ballot;
2. Counts Florida, a state where neither candidate campaigned;
3. Does not count IA, NV, ME, and WA, caucus states that do not release official popular vote totals.

This is a delegate race, and Clinton has lost the electoral portion of it. She can win only by having the unelected superdelegates trump the decision of the voters. That is the plain, unvarnished, unspun truth.
