I have had wireless internet for like a week now. It wasn't that fast but it worked. Now I called hanaro a while back and they finally came and installed internet today. The problem is I think the guy thinks he installed it because I already had internet. The reason why I wanted Hanaro was because it would make my wireless (signal stoilen from a neigbor probably) faster. Now the modem thing has lights on it that work. But I am still getting the same download speeds. How can I tell if I am connected to Hanaro or still connected through a wireless signal? This is really frustrating.

Would speedtest.net tell me?

He wanted to know the LAN card information and tried doing ipconfig but the problem is I have a MAC and he didn't know how to use it.

Should I just call them again and see if it is really connected through Hanaro?

Your computer probably has the old wireless signal that you were using, as it's preferred selection.
You need to find the place showing wireless networks available to your mac, and change it to the new network.

Probably ?

Are you connected (maybe) to Hanaro via a wired connection? If that's the case, just switch off your AirPort (or equivalent wireless) and look for the wired connection in your network manager.

If you're using a wireless router, like nobbyken said take a look at the wireless networks your computer is finding and see if one that wasn't there before appears (generally the name of your wireless router, until you change it).

My airport signal is off and I am able to browse the internet so something right happened. HOWEVER my internet is still getting the same speed and I am downloading at the same speed. I could have just kept the free wireless signal. Anyways is there a way to speed things up like it should be? The Airport Signal is off so I have to be getting internet from the cable he put in my apartment but it is just as slow as the wireless if not a little slower. How do I fix this?

If you're paying for a fast connection and aren't getting it, you could try testing your connection speed and then take the results to Hanaro...but it could be something like the wiring in your building. I don't have a Mac so can't really comment on things you could tweak there. If you use Firefox, you could download the FasterFox extension and adjust your browser settings.

Do you have a macbook?

Is there a way to just turn off the wifi with a Mac?

I'm sure there is.

yea I turned off the wifi and I am using the cable from the router so my internet is coming from Hanaro for sure. The thing is it's not that fast even though I am paying for Hanaro Pro which I believe is 50m down/ 50m up. Should I call them and see if they can look at it to hopefully make it faster somehow?
