So here's the deal.
Acting on the advice of the Canadian embassy (I know I shouldn't have), I applied for the RCMP CRC in April.
They did the check within two weeks, and I had it back in the mail within four weeks.
The problem is, my current visa doesn't expire until December. This is more than the six months of validity that immigration says it will give.
The Canadian embassy explains that they advised me to go for it because they thought the check would take up to five months. But what's done is done and I'm moving on.
So I have the check now and it's notarized (for a total of about 90,000 won), something which I might have to do all over again.
The thing is, if I decide to stay on at my current workplace and extend my visa in October, then my CRC will still be less than six months old.
I've heard confilcting reports that the extension can be done either one month or two months before my current visa expires.
So two questions:
1) Can I extend it two months before my visa expires?
2) Can I submit my CRC to immigration before I apply to extend or get a new E-2 visa (since we only have to do it once anyway)? |

My visa expired May 1st. I extended it March...3th or something like that.

1) You CAN extend / renew your visa up to 60 days prior to its expiry - they have, under special circumstances (teacher leaving for an extended vacation, etc) done it up to 90 days early. They also did a bunch last December for March expiries and that would have been about 75 days early.
2) I doubt it but you can try. |
