E-2 visa holders in Incheon public schools..

I was just presented with a document [written in Korean] given to me by the English supervisor and asked to sign it. It is a document from the Incheon Office of Education. When I asked about the purpose of the document I was told by the same supervisor that native English teachers need to be registered on a particular database [www. neis...] established by the Incheon office of education. In addition to being asked to sign it, I was informed a copy of my bank book page and a copy of my ARC was required. Part of the registration process, I guess.

Why is a copy of my bank book page required? The administration office here at my school has a copy for pay purposes. They are NOT the only ones who have a copy of my bank book page ~ the previous school where I worked [still]has a copy. The requests for copies of certain personal documents[cards] from Immigration, IMOE etc every year it seems is becoming nauseating.

For those of you here in Incheon working at PS's ..
1.Were you asked to sign the IMOE document currently circulating around schools?
2. Did you sign it knowing what it was you were signing?
3. Did you sign it knowing why it was IMOE needed your bank book page?

It's time to change my bank acct # but then of course they can perhaps cross reference my ARC # with this. A I bloody 'fishing expedition' on their part it seems for WHAT PURPOSE.

Enlighten me with what you have been told.

Wow, I am blown away by the banking procedures in South Korea. Your post concerns me very much.

Not to get off topic, but what does a FT do when asked to sign papers like this? Do most people take them to a friend to be translated? I would never sign anything that I could not read. Please give suggestions on how to deal with this problem.

It's so they can pay you any overtime from special events, workshops or outside camps.

I have been asked lots of time for "copies" of my bankbook. I do not give it. I just write down my account number. It's for deposits.

Yeah I was asked for my a copy of mine by another school that I did a one shot camp for. Just sent em my bank number and my name...finally they just called my school and had em fax a copy of their copy of my bank book lol.

Don't be surprised if they do that to ya too heh.
