I am curious and confused. For those working in the public school system. I know that 14 days vacation is normal. But what happens during winter/summer vacation time? Do you still have to work? Do you still get paid if not working? What happens? thanks a lot

You go into the office and sit on your ass, sleep, read, watch movies, play video games, type on forums.

Other schools are cool and let employees "stay home" or work half-days.

Ok thanks for that. Still sounds better than a hagwon even if you have to go in. Cheers

I did the sit at school thing. Boring. They got pissed when I took my honeymoon allowance during winter vacation, and would have prefered me to be sat on my arse in an empty classroom. Bastards tried everything to avoid letting me have the time off.

If you negotiate with the school in writing and they tell you that they will let you leave after teaching your camp class, get it in writing. My principal required me to stay at school last year during both winter and summer vacations, since the secretaries had to. I renegotiated my vacation time to be much more favorable this year.
