Anyone done this? How much does it cost? I'm thinking of sending my left-handed guitar by ship from the UK while I'm away from Korea this summer.

make sure that it's in a protective case. and you might also want to insure it, just in case someone sees it and walks off with it while it's in transit. Happened to a package of expensive perfumes I sent to my sister two years ago. Package was supposed to be back in the States within three months, never made it.

The other option is to buy a new guitar here... unless your other is really good and you plan on staying in korea for a while/ really need a good guitar.

the selection is not as good as back home but they still have some decent ones for cheap cost in korea.

I'd say, if you're not planning on staying in korea for that much longer.. just buy one here. Unless ur in a band and require it.

In the end it's up to you. I know I am seriously thinking of bringing my bass with me when I go back to korea. But then I'll be able to bring it on the plane. It's all ways fun to buy new instruments though.

Put it on the plane if you can. Even if you pay an excess to do it, it is probably worth the little extra expense for the peace of mind.

I brought my telecaster over when I headed back to the UK in february. I put it in a hard case, and padded it out with a socks, stuck a towel under the neck and another towel across the top. The airport put it in an elevator for me, and it was nicely looked after, and I wasn't charged any excess Smile
