I was just wondering how much medical privacy exists in Korea. If I fill a prescription and use my health insurance card to get it, will my school know about the charge, and if so, will they know the specifics about the prescription I'm taking?
Will the school automatically be informed, or will they only know if they pry into the matter?
I'm at a public school...
thanks in advance... |

No, they won't know if you are just going to a hospital by yourself to get the prescription.
However, if you ever need to visit a doctor, DON'T, let anyone from the school take you OR go to a doctor they recommend. Find one for yourself.
Many doctors will tell your employer everything if they ask. Make sure they don't know what doctor you visited. If you ever need to, that is. |

What he said. ^^
There is NO reporting from NHIC to your employer BUT if the school is aware of your doctor visa and who the doctor is they may ask and the doctor may very well tell if asked.

Well, if you got nothing to hide then I wouldn't worry about it. I mean if you reported to your school when they were hiring you that you don't have any medical problems and then it turns out you're some psycho taking psycho meds then the school has a right to inquire why you lied to them, IMHO. |

There's no automatic reporting to your employer, but most hospitals and doctors will tell all if asked. They aren't supposed to do that, but there are no consequences if they do. |

I love how my boss always shows my medical test results to parents like I'm a show dog. So ridiculous! |

I would like to add to this. If you are planning to take your yearly physical. Do not do it through your school. They have absolutely 0
respect for your privacy and your medical condition will become
office gossip. |
