Hello Democrats Abroad!

It's an exciting time to be a Democrat! As the primary race gets more and more interesting, and June 3rd draws closer, we're continuing to get more members signed up for Democrats Abroad Korea!

Sunday, June 1st, 1:00. Wolfhound Pub, Itaewon

Sunday, June 1st, is our next general meeting, and it is a CRITICAL meeting for us. Our goal is to become an official Country Committee. In order to do so, we must fulfill certain requirements. Over the past month, we have been working hard to ensure that Democrats Abroad Korea achieves this goal. However, everyone's help is needed.

At our next meeting, we will be conducting two very important points of business: 1) voting on and electing our officers, and 2) voting on and approving our bylaws. A quorum of at least 25 people is required to hold the election (why we couldn't hold the election on April 27th, causing our Committee application to be unfortunately delayed).

After the election is held, and our bylaws are voted upon, other country committees of the Democratic Party Committee Abroad (DPCA) around the world will vote to admit DA Korea as a full Country Committee, which gives us the right to vote in DPCA matters. Therefore, you can see why the June 1st meeting is of critical importance.

We're asking everyone to talk to one or two Democrat friends, have them sign up at www.DemocratsAbroad.org/user/register, and bring them along to the meeting. In order to be an official member of Democrats Abroad Korea, you must register. It is a quick, simple process, and is a prerequisite for voting at the June 1st meeting.

The agenda for our June 1st meeting will include the following:

1. Election of Officers
2. Approval of Bylaws
3. Updates and Progress Reports
4. Discussions of and Sign Ups for Standing Committees
5. Planning for a major voter registration drive the week of July 4th
6. Discuss a Democrats Abroad Korea July 4th party
7. Upcoming Social Gatherings
8. Registration for Absentee Ballots
9. And enjoying great food with great people and great conversation!

This meeting also brings a change of venue. We'll be gathering at the Wolfhound Pub in Itaewon (get directions from the website: http://www.wolfhoundpub.com). Come early and/or stay after for the Wolfhound's excellent food. If anyone has trouble finding the Wolfhound on Sunday, please give me (Kirstie Bromenshenk) a call at 016 695 4624, or Wende Crow at 010 2893 3653. You can also email us at [email protected].

Things are really beginning to take shape for Democrats Abroad Korea, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday!

Sincerely,
Kirstie Bromenshenk
Wende Crow
