First and foremost it is a character building exercise. Of course there is also plenty of teamwork and competition. But somewhere in this game you will find something spiritual, nay, life-affirming. It is the essence of life, for those living fully and chaotically as English teachers in this country.
The rules are simple. Find a batting cage. Gather your friends. Purchase 1-3 bottles of tequila. Purchase large amounts of any cheap can of beer. Make two teams.
Before the game, everyone takes a shot. This covers everyone for their first at-bat.
For the second at-bat, shotgun a beer before stepping to the plate. The look on everyone's face as they enter the cage is priceless.
Next at-bat drink a shot of tequila.
Lastly, repeat steps 2 and 3 until you finish 9 innings.
Score one point for anything that leaves the cage directly. Score three points for any liner that hits the back of the cage.
One last things: Drink Responsively (After 3 shots and 3 shotguns things can get a little hairy with a bat and a 120km/h ball coming at you). |
