I am trying to find a good bookstore to buy textbooks for teaching middle school students English and myself Korean. It would be good if there were some in Uijeongbu, but failing that there are hopefully some in an accessable part of Seoul. Anyone know? |

can't claim to know of a good bookstore up in your neck of the woods, but i would suggest kyobo and youngpoong bookstores over bandi and luni's. kyobo can be accessed from gwanghwamun station on line 5, and youngpoong can be accessed from jonggak station on line 1 (same station as bandi and luni's, so it can't hurt to try both). there's also the english plus store chain, but i can't quite remember the various locations. english plus is only good for your english needs though.
regarding your korean studies, you might consider the books produced by sungkyunkwan university. i studied the first two levels intensively at the university, but have subsequently worked my way through the 3rd and 4th levels on my own. i think the books are fairly straighforward and easy to follow. if not, i'd say a rule of thumb is sticking to books produced by some of the bigger universities over here. there are some pretty bad choices out there. good luck! |

I heard that if you go to What the book for every 4 english text books you buy the owner gives you a blow job... |

I find that Kyobo near Gangnam station is better than the one at Gwanghamun. Just my opinion though. |

i'm inclined to agree with you, but gwanghwamun and jongno are a hell of a lot closer to uijeongbu than gangnam is. |

There are a lot of English Textbooks at the Bookstore inside Uijengbu station (the one half-way down the stairs on the market end). Unfortunately, these are all Korean "English" textbooks. If you want some better ones, use What the Book (or their website), though their stocks can be hit or miss. You could also try kyobo, and even gmarket as they stock a few foreign titles now.
Do you want a lot of each English book, or just single copies for yourself? If you just want single copies... well... I can point you towards some freebies. |

I noticed those and concluded that they wouldn't be worth having for the reason given.

Kidari is very good. It's at Nowon which is just a few stops away from Uijeongbu. The people speak English as well at the shop. Give yourself a few hours there and take it easy. Check out this thread here for directions. I posted pics to make it easier for people to find as well. A lot easier than when I was looking for it!!!!!!

Book are for losers and nerds... What you want to do is get a real life... Stop living in the escape that books give you... Instead, you could do cool real life tings like writing and posting on online forums... |

go to the one near gangnam station, unless of course, you want to be stalked by middle schoolers trying to get survey after survey and pictures with you --the gwanghamun kyobo is absolutely swarming with them. |
