Some big names include Korvia and Worknplay.

I think these days, SMOE or GEPIK place a lot of their own teachers.

Footprints is pretty big as well. They have a fair amount of staff who in my experience appear to be on the ball. There are a few people on Dave's who have used them as well, so there's plenty said on their experiences as well.

I've heard of Canadian Connections, as well as a firm that specifically places South African teachers.

Whether or not these or any other recruiting organizations release their numbers and whether or not they tell the truth is up in the air.

Quantity doesn't necessarily equate to quality.
If company P says it places 2100 teachers a year and company Q says it places 2400, how will the outside observer know without having access to their books. More importantly if company Q places more than P, you can't tell from their numbers whether or not those placed teachers are staying the full year. Company Q may be placing more than P, but they may be placing teachers anywhere and everywhere and losing more teachers due to crappy conditions. I guess the way to determine quality would be to see what contracts each company is offering.

^ i second canadian connection. gone with them once and going with them a second time. very helpful and they don't just dump you in korea after they get their recruiter's fee -- they will act as a go-between and help you if you need it

Nope. SMOE uses 5 or 6 recruiters for their August and Feb/March intake.

A number of current SMOE teachers contact the main office and say they have a friend who wants to work with SMOE. They are told to submit their resume to one of the recruiters.

I have only heard one extreme case (can't remember the circumstances) that a resume was submitted directly to the SMOE office.

As this being a government organisation, they are allocated a budget to spend (just like any organisation). If that money isn't spent one year (in this case, for recruitment) their budget for the following year will be less.
