Heading to Philippines in August, more than likely to these spots.

Looking for anyone who has traveled there and who has great tips! We are 2 females, not JUST looking for a beach. Interested in see the whole island, cultural activities, hiking, renting scooters etc. Are these islands good choices?

Has anyone made the journey over to Sequijor Island from Bohol?

Also, I know it is the rainy season, but has anyone been to the north in rainy season. I'd like to visits the rice terraces and the Cordilla mountains. But have heard that the north gets the rain SO much worse than the south, so am not sure.

Thanks!

Getting down to the witches from Bohol means either hiring a banka to get you there or going back to cebu island, tramping down to the south end and catching a boat across.

There is lots to do on Bohol outside of the beaches on Panglao.
Shopping, day trips to the interior of the island, eco-tourism to the tarsier preserve, spend an afternoon playing at the falls, old Spanish architecture and churches, then you can hit the beaches as well.

Up north you have a decent chance of getting brushed by or hit by a typhoon in August (July-Nov is the season). The Visayas and southern regions are mostly below the typhoon belt.

There are lots of previous threads about places in this region. You might want to think about Camiguin as well or instead of Siquijor. Just do a search on Bohol or a search on Camiguin in this forum.

Actually, on this site, http://www.schedule.ph/browse it shows that there are ferries on Mon/Wed/Fri to Siquijor from Bohol at 7 pm!

Besides getting there etc., is it a cool place to see? Camigyuin looked good but in case it is a nice day and I get the urge to hit up a beach, I'd like to have the nice white sand variety u know? And I have heard that Camigyuin isnt that type of place. That being said, Id like to do things other than hit the beaches.

The witchcraft stuff on Siquijor makes it sound quite interesting. Is it prevelant when ur there?

I'm thinking Bohol/Siquijor will make for a nice trip. Keeping in mind if the weather cooperates, hiring a banka and visiting other small islands nearby (havent dont that much research on THAT part yet tho).

that would be on a good day maybe.... don't count on it. Service is NOT dependable (see your other thread on boat schedules).

If you don't speak Visayan there is not much to do there and the tourist infrastructure is minimal at best. If you don't have connections you won't get to see/meet the witches.

It does have white island (a stretch of white sand about a mile off-shore). It would cost you about p200 to get a boat to take you over and back and stay for a few hours.

There are lots of other things to do there as well. Hot springs, cold springs, swimming at the waterfall pool, hiking the volcano, diving and tour around the island (day trip).

I have about 19 days.

I don't want to spend it all in Bohol and figure about 7-8 days in each is good. Or change it up a bit etc.

I think a lot of it will depend on when I get there and find out more. I just like to have a general idea on if each place is decent to go and what to expect.

Any accomdation ideas? On any of the islands?

http://www.camiguin.gov.ph/photo-gallery.html there is lots to do in most places that most tourists miss because they can't look past the beach.

For accomdation, just do a simple search (search function above) for subject "bohol" and user ttompatz. You can also do searchs for "cebu", "boracay" or "camiguin" and find all the information you seek.
