I wish this country had guns, so I could shoot myself....
Anytime I'm getting less less Canadian money then won, it drives me mad..
*beep*.........this sucks!! Last year I was getting 850:1
It's almost not worth it anymore...if it wasn't for the ridiculous amount of vacation I get. If I didnt have debts back at home, I wouldn't be complaining, I wouldn't care, I'd invest in something else... |

yup...i hope it gets better before i gotta bail in a couple months. I'd even take 1000 right about now...
if you consider all the jobs in Alberta atm, it really isn't worth being a Canadian on an E2 visa. 2.2-2.5mil isn't much...there are way better jobs out there in Canada. |

It will recover within five years, but coming here is not worth it if you are short term. Stay in Canada. |

What's really infuriating is that it's the k-governments own policy--to intentionally tank their own currency in the hopes that it increases their export sales. I'm sure it also has something to do with increasing consumption of domestically produced goods too. Seriously what better way to combat the passing of FTA? All those economic barriers are supposed to go down, but if their money isn't worth crap, they'll still buy domestic even if the imports are MUCH better.
At least the K-government's policy makes sense to them--my country's tanking dollar is from sheer incompetence, idiocy and personal greed. |

Ya the way the won is going, it's going to attract less and less teachers. I wish I could teach back home, as I love doing it, but need to pay off some bills, and save up to go back to school first....
I HATE the exchange rate right now..... |

It's making me less tolerable of being here. It really sucks, cause I really love my job...for the first time since working a part time job at a bar.
But losing $200-$400cdn/month is killing me....fuckers. |

Yeah, I was planning on sending money home this afternoon until I saw this.
The Australian dollar has broken the 1000 won barrier, this is unheard of. No wonder no one's coming here now, the main drawcard to this place - savings potential - has evaporated.
Makes me wish I was more frugal with my money during 2006 and 2007 when the AUD - won exchange was much more beneficial. |

I wonder if this is true. I suspect it is, as there have been scads of programs designed to open the gates for low-qualification teachers, but I'd like to see the fit hit the shan big time on a teacher shortage. I'm sure Koreans would just give up on English rather than pay more to attract people. |

I feel really sorry for those that have large key deposits down and are planning on leaving in 2008.....myself included
Nothing like losing $15 000 CDN during the course of a year. |

According to www.xe.com on Tuesday May 27th at 1:49 pm Korean time (now) 1,000,000원 is $945.77 Cdn.
This is by far the worst it has ever been in my time here; it wasn't long ago when it was almost $1200. |
