Whats the deal with this. Do I need to get it inorder to get my alien reg. card? Or do I just get it within 3 months of getting my E2...and will still get the alien reg card before the test?
My agent seems to think I need to get the test before I can get the alien reg card and Therefore my bank account/ bank card. |

| You need it to get your ARC for sure. Immigration gives you up until 90 days in the country to register for the ARC, and you must submit the medical check in order to process the ARC. |

You definitely need the medical check before you can get your ARC ... So worthwhile getting ASAP .... if you don't pass the important parts of the medical check (drugs/contagious diseases) then you will not get an ARC and your visa will be cancelled.
On the speed in getting ARC once application to immigration is in ... When I went to the appropriate immigration office on a Wednesday morning they said I could either come back in a week and pick it up ... or have it couriered to me ... I knew from previous experience that the courier was less than 5000 won and I didn't want to have to travel back to the office ... so I took the courier option ... And received my passport and ARC on Friday afternoon ... |

| It is probably best to get tested at a hospital rather than at a clinic. They almost rejected my test because the "clinic I got my test done at was really small" so apparently that meant they couldn't do a blood test for AIDS and Illegal drugs. |

Yes the test does have to be done at one of the approved places |

| Well I know that NOW! But my boss hadn't done the new procedures before so he didn't know the clinic we went to wasn't on the list. Apparently the other teachers were able to go to the small clinic. |

| It is frustrating isn't it ... I was lucky that my hagwon did manage to choose one of the "acceptable" places and take me there and pay for it ... I don't know if there is a list of the accepted places in different areas which has been published somewhere ... In korean or English |

| Another reason to get it done quickly...you can't get health insurance until you have your ARC; you can't get your ARC without the tests, |
