Yeah, memes are interesting.

I liked the point about chimpanzees: if they didn't see it happen, they'll never know it. I've been thinking lately about a point made somewhere else, that, as a person becomes more educated, the greater the proportion of his or her knowledge is second hand.

Memes are all second hand.
