While people have been hemming about "Iron Man" (worthy) and hawing about "Speed Racer" (you mean you actually paid to watch this?), the one shining gem in the theatres now is "Taken", with Liam Neeson.

It starts off fairly lame--with a seemingly pedestrian premise that appears to knock off the plot of "The Bodyguard" but then the action starts and by God, it never lets up.

The director, I've never heard of, but Luc Besson (of "La Femme Nikita", "Leon" and "The 5th Element" fame) wrote and produced the thing, and I'm sure he had a hand in directing it as well. It's at least as good as any of the Bourne movies, and probably the most entertaining film I've seen since "The Departed."

The cool thing is, it doesn't reach N. American theatres until September. The word of mouth before then should be enormous.

it's a good action movie but thats about it. the plot is rather thin and the characters are one dimensional

I agree with crash. The action was great but the writer took the day off.
