The previous poster is right, if you send it surface mail it shouldn't be too much. You can check on the Korea post site to find out how much:http://www.koreapost.go.kr/eng/service/service01_06_05.jsp

The only problem with a suitcase are the measurements- there's a maximum dimension a box can be. Can't remember what it is but it should be on the post website too.

How did that work out? Did it arrive okay etc? How long did it take?

I sent about 7 boxes of books (roughly 3kg each) from the UK to SK using surface mail before I came out here. It cost about 30/40 quid per box and they said they'd arrive in about 2-months. They actually took 4-months to get here.

the uk postal system is awful, its actually better to use the likes of dhl, ups etc when coming from the UK, get the size down and its not much more cash. going back to the UK is different far cheaper to do it via surface mail. yet another way the UK is ripping its citizens off i guess

I had a terrible experience mailing things home from Korea last year. I boxed up about twenty books that I had read throughout the year along with all my dvds and sent them from Seoul to the U.S. About three months later a small box arrived at my parents home. Inside was one book with the cover torn off and two broken dvds. A note on the box read: "Your package was damaged in transit".

Send things at your own risk. If the contents inside are worth anything to you, make sure that you take out insurance.

I've sent quite a few boxes home over the years.

Want to make sure someone isn't going to go through your box? WRAP IT IN BROWN WRAPPING PAPER. I never had any box opened and I've sent several over the years.

Yeah, bruddah, that's what you get for socialism in the U.K. The efficient carriers are American and operate on capitalistic principles.

also be weary of canada customs, they are complete douches
a year or two ago i sent home a pretty large box of stuff containing dvds, books some clothes and some other crap, and it was opened by customs and they charged me around 80-90 dollars for bringing it into the country
total horseshit

I bought those hard plastic see through containers and sent home 7 boxes last summer by boat. It's the easiest, hassle free way to go. But the limit was 20 kg and I made sure I didn't tape them up until I got to the post office because I had to rearrange a few kilos here and there. They were pretty picky about it. And I understand I guess. 20kg is heavy enough. But it was cheap between 20 and 40 dollars depending on the final weight up to 20 kg. From Busan it might even be a few dollars cheaper because that's where all the ships take off from. From Seoul to Toronto, about 6 weeks.
