This is a question I just don't get.

I make, after a master degree, around 20% above the average, quite beyond reach of 50% of the migrants.

Yet I live in a drafty house build by Neanderthals that allows heat to escape in nanoseconds and the local u25 find that the highlight of their weekend is puking all over my letterbox.

And then, on top of relative unemployment there is this horrible disconnection from the rest world.

I don't get it.

I would say most koreans the go to NZ would make above average incomes, while it is easy to work in new zealand emigrating is a different matter.

I see your point about the bad construction in NZ but have you seen a korean apartment, the only reason they are warm in winter is the massive amount of heating they have, the concrete walls, a beehive will always be warmer than a single bee house (couldn't think of a better analogy). The constrution is terrible.

which is worse the under 25 in NZ or the over 35 in korea.

but over all i think most move because of the clean air, lack of stress (parents and children (children esp)). A NZ passport for the kids have to be an advantage as well

Cheers for your comments blackjack but according to statistics NZ Koreans in NZ make significantly less than average. As for the ease of work, it is there if you ant to work 5hrs a week (and than nothing after hat).

again, a fair comment but at the end of the day a korean is warmer in Korea than i NZ.

Another good point. however, perhaps I shouldn't focused on the violance associated with drinking in NZ.

I don't know about other cities, but Christchurch is in the top 10% most polluted cities in the developed world.

As for lack of stress, try feeding a family with two kids on $25,000 a year.

because all the advertisements say that NZ is a crime-free, unspoilt paradise...

...and then they move to South Auckland.

Beats me.

It would seem then that the real mystery here is why aren't all the Kiwis emigrating to pretty much any country that isn't NZ?

Maybe some of them don't do any research, their geography is poor and they think it is part of the USA or Europe. - Only half joking.

NZ houses are freezing, ridiculously so, but they won't know that till they get there, by which time it's too late.

The info from statistics NZ - well I'm assuming most Koreans who go are students, so therefore their income is low, and that might skew the total figures downward, perhaps.

All I know is that I'm going back in two and a half months and I can't wait for fresh air, blue skies, seeing animals in the paddocks, but mostly I'm looking forward to Jimmy's pies.

Oh, no mystery. 60% of NZ passport holders are outside of NZ.

I am looking to foward to return the favour for some of the treatments they given me here Smile .

There's a korean church next to the Otago language center at the Otago university, they dont welcome anybody who arent koreans. During the busy exam periods these gooks just hog onto the computers for hours messaging their friends on cyworld and navers inside the university library when there are alot of vacant computers in other buildings, sometimes when the IT supervisor told them minimised their time they just give this dum innocent of "I dont know" look. ...

in all honesty, NZs not that bad really and money's getting tight all over as fuel prices go up for everybody throughout the world. People like a good whinge and a moan. Get Pink Batts or something. Insulate your house instead of moaning it was built by Neanderthals. As for the puke, are you seriously comparing Korea to NZ in that respect? You're taking the piss aren't you?

Seriously - and half of that 60% of NZ's living outside NZ are living in Australia - claiming unemployments hand-outs from the Australian government...
