Is it possible to arrive a few weeks before one's job starts? Or can you not enter on a tourist visa or have an e-2 for a year and a few weeks?
Anyone on an e-2 able to arrive early and acclimatize before starting teaching? |

Or can you come for a summer camp job on a C-4 visa and then move to an E-2? Or would that require returning to the home country? |

IF you arrive early - your visa gets stamped early and you will need to get an extension in order to complete your contract.

You can only have 1 visa in your passport at 1 time. If you come on a C4 you will have to leave to get an E2 (and it may mean flying home).

Another complication is housing. Apts are rented/leased on one year contracts, too, so those would have to be extended. In addition, who would pay the rent for those extra weeks? You haven't worked, so are not entitled to housing. |
