I know this should be in the travel section. But..not as many ppl check that!

Anyone been? Is it as nice as the pictures look? My Korean co-teacher said it isnt as romantic looking as they make it look.

Worth the trip from Seoul?

It would be a really long trip just to go there for the day. If you're going to be in the area its worth checking out. I thought it was beautiful and you can eat green tea ice cream, green tea bulgogi and then go to the nearby green tea sauna. Pick up a Lonely Planet, find some other places in the area and make a long weekend out of it.

I visited the place back in 2001. It's not really near Gwangju or anywhere for that matter, but it's worth visiting once. Enjoy!

I went there for the tea festival about 4 weeks ago. As for most festivals about 6 million Koreans turned up. It started to rain which kinda thinned things out but it was really nice. I imagine out of season it'd be really nice to visit but make sure if you want pictures without people in the shots, to go early morning or just before sun-set.

I think as a tourist thing it's nice to do, just so you can say you've been to them. Very close to that is Damyang (about 15kms) which is famous for it's bamboo fields. So if you were to make a weekend of it you've got plenty to do and see, there's also plenty of nice motels around in the middle of nowhere.

Make a weekend of it. Go to Kang-jin first. Kang-jin is the birth place of Celedon Pottery. Next stop, Sorak-do. Beautiful island and leper colony. Stop by the green tea farm for a few hours. Go to Suncheon to spend the night and enjoy the best Korean food in Korea. Head back to Seoul the next day.

It is way outside of Gwangju, as others have said. I highly recommend driving yourself, if that is an option. The first touristy-looking village on the right when you come in has AWESOME food!

The best tea fields are the ones where you park near the road and then walk through a small stand of trees to get to the tea fields.

A car is just about the only way to get there in any practical way. It is a pretty rural area. I've been to the farm 9-10 times. Doesn't do much for me anymore but I wouldn't object to going again.

all the way from seoul might be excessive, it is after all a farm. spend a couple of hours there its quite nice, walk around green tea, eat green tea, drink green tea, wash your face with green tea, buy green tea and go home. it is scenic.

have a good time if you go but have some other places to visit in case you want something more when you get here. daeheungsa mt/temple or Wando not to close but scenic as well.

It's a nice place place to visit but the other posters are right. At best you can spend a couple hours there. Plan something else to go with it or you're going to be pretty bored. Here's a few pics I snapped when I was there last fall.
