I have decided to renew my contract with my present school. Do I need to leave the country to get my E2-visa? I was told by my friends that I could renew my E2-visa with the local immigration office because I am planning to work for the same school. Is this true? Thanks.
PS. I am sure this has been covered before but my search proved fruitless. Maybe a mod could direct me to a similar thread. Cheers. |

I did the same thing last year, no need to leave the country. You just have to go to immigration with your boss. |

Easy as pie. Just go to the immigration office where you got your certificate of alien registration card. I wish they would change the name. I know Australia is a funny place to some, but it's not Mar's.
You will need the following things:
1. Your boss/school director , with school stamp and papes - very important!!
2. Your e-2 card
3. Your Passport
4. New contract
5. Old contract
6. Take along a copy of your degree, some will ask to see it.
7. 30,000 won for them to write a new date on your Alien card.
The whole process takes around 30 minutes, but you will have to go back around two weeks later to pick up your card.
Don't go between 12 pm and 1pm, because the whole office closes for lunch.
I did all this in March with my school. It's very easy. To be on the safe side get your school director to phone a head of time. Some offices require different school papers eg local Gov school registration papers.
I hope this helps you.
Best regards, Michael |
